Welcome, I’m a writer who has been living in East Asia for over 10 years, mainly on the lovely island nation of Taiwan. Being a person who enjoys traveling and reading, this site is a way to combine those two interests. I especially enjoy visiting cities, historical sites, museums, and going on moderate mountain hikes. I only write about places I’ve visited personally so everything here is based on my experiences and observations.

Despite the name of this site, my travels and reading cover both Asia and the rest of the world as I don’t only travel or read books about Asia, of course. I’m a keen solo traveler who has traveled to a fair bit of Asia, especially East and Southeast Asia. I’ve also been to South Africa (and a few of its neighbors) and Western Europe. I’ve also read a lot of novels and non-fiction related to Asia, ranging from India to Vietnam to China to Taiwan.

Just to be clear, this is not one of those “I quit my job to travel and so should you!” type of blogs. Travel can be enjoyed in many forms, whether as a round-the-world odyssey, a short trip taken with annual leave, or even just a weekend getaway.
